Diving into an Unique Steam Game Trial: Controlling a Piece of Feces in a Mission to Reach the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is in full swing, and enthusiasts have discovered plenty of engaging independent titles. But, one is particularly notable for its unconventional concept. Titled Unko Technica, this old-school styled jumping adventure includes a hero that is actually a turd striving to make its way to a commode. As a fun fact, "Unko" translates to "poop."

How you interact is simple: press a single jump button. Across 150 levels, you'll face boss fights and unlock a shop to acquire customizations for your dung hero.

Time your actions precisely, since one mistake requires starting over. Leap on bubbles to propel yourself upward, traverse disappearing surfaces, and interact with triggers to open secret routes. Earn coins to purchase more difficult stages in which gameplay gets crazy.

Visually, the demo boasts vibrant environments and catchy background music. The simple graphics featuring morphing basic polygons evokes memories of gamers of old favorites like Earthbound.

While it's hard to recall similar titles where you play as a coiled turd, video games have long included toilet humor. For instance, in Death Stranding, players create grenades from character excrement. Games like Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved utilize feces as soil enrichment. Naturally, this theme is present heavily in the South Park RPG The Stick of Truth.

Regardless of its goofy concept, Unko Technica has already earned notable awards, like taking top honors at Bandai Namco's GYAAR Studio in 2023. The demo is ready now on Steam, with the full game planned to launch on computers on November 19.
