NFL Recap: Broncos Narrowly Beat Hapless Jets in Defensive Affair

In a low-scoring contest this weekend, the Broncos clinched a close victory over the winless New York Jets. Signal-caller Bo Nix threw an early touchdown pass and specialist Wil Lutz kicked the game-winning decisive three-pointer to seal the ugly win.

Defensive Performance Seals Contest

Even with registering nine sacks versus Jets QB Justin Fields, the Broncos found themselves trailing 11-10 after conceding a safety in the second half. Interestingly, the Jets managed a mere 82 total net yards during the entire game.

The Denver quarterback, who went 19 of 30 passes for 174 yards, engineered a decisive 12-play, 65-yard drive that culminated in Lutz's 27-yard field goal with just over five minutes left.

Record Difficulties for Jets Offense

In spite of their horrendous offensive display, the Jets still had the ball with a chance to drive for a potential winning score. But Fields was sacked on fourth down from the Denver 44 after coach Aaron Glenn opted to go for it instead of calling on kicker Nick Folk for a difficult kick.

Fields struggled all game, connecting on just 9 of 17 passes for 45 yards. New York ended up with negative ten net yards passing, the lowest in any contest since 1998.

"Our passing game was completely absent," Glenn stated after the game.
